Merry Christmas! Ho ho ho
It’sssss Chrissssstmasssss! I hope you are all having a lovely holiday season. I was working in my day job right up until Christmas Eve afternoon but will be off for a few days over Christmas itself and new year. I will spend the time with my husband and kids and our families and stuff my face with Christmas goodies (and also watch The Muppets Christmas Carol because I’ve not watched it yet this year. I need to see those meeces get their cheeses).
What I’ve been reading
I’ve not done very well this month! I read B.K Borison’s Good Spirits which was a cosy Christmas hug of a book. I am currently reading Meghan Quinn’s How My Neighbour Stole Christmas but haven’t gotten very far due to general festive chaos! I have a few other Christmas reads I wanted to get through this year though so I shall have to redouble my efforts over the holidays.
What I’ver been writing
I have completed the structural edits for The Christmas Competition and in the new year it will be time for the copy edits, and the cover! When the time comes I will reveal my cover here first to all my lovely subscribers.
A reminder of what The Christmas Competition is about…
Newly single Nisa is desperate to win the Inverglen inaugural Christmas Lights Competition, with the most beautifully decorated house in the whole of Scotland. Her ex, Drew, always thought lights were ‘too much’ and tinsel was ‘tacky’, but now that he’s moved in with his new girlfriend and she’s got the house to herself, Nisa knows that it’s the perfect way to say ‘screw you for leaving’ while revelling in the festive spirit... and who needs to be thinking of heartbreak when you’ve been awarded first place?
Kerr Murdoch, also newly dumped, needs to win the competition; the first prize is a secluded weekend getaway in the Highlands, which is just what he requires after the village discovered his ex has left him and moved in with her new partner just down the road. But his arch-nemesis Nisa, whose house overlooks his, is getting more and more extravagant with her Christmas decorations. They’d never seen eye-to-eye since ‘The Incident’ but he didn’t think she’d do all this just to spite him... Surely she can’t blame him that his ex is now living with hers, and they’re both facing a Christmas alone?
As the holiday rivalry goes from one-upmanship to sabotage, will Nisa and Kerr realise they’ve misunderstood one another all along and have this Christmas competition light a spark?
